California's Compendium of Domestic Violence Laws

The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence is the State Domestic Violence Coalition with a 25-year history of providing a united voice for over 150 member organizations and individuals working to end domestic violence at the local, state and national levels.

Vision: A California free from domestic violence. Mission: The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence promotes the collective voice of a diverse coalition of organizations and individuals, working to eliminate all forms of domestic violence.

A complete compendium of laws can be found at the link below:

2010 Compendium of Laws

The Epidemiology and Prevention for Injury Control (EPIC) Branch, sponsor of this directory, does not provide direct services for victims or perpetrators of violence.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

If you are being abused call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or 1-800-787-3224 (TTY) or visit www.ndvh.org

If you have been raped or experienced sexual violence, call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673 or visit www.rainn.org

Please try to use a safe computer that someone abusive does not have direct access to, or even remote (hacking) access to, such as a computer in a public library, at a trusted friend's house, or at an Internet Cafe. Also, traditional "corded" phones are more private than cellular phones or cordless phones.

This lists county-specific resources for domestic violence, sexual violence, child and elder abuse. The following categories of services are listed for each county: Domestic Violence Victim/Prevention Services, Domestic Violence Shelter Services, Sexual Violence (Rape) Victim/Prevention Services, Victim/Witness Services, Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, and Batterers Intervention Programs (Approved).

The purpose of this directory is to provide information on local resources. Inclusion in the directory does not imply endorsement or recommendation by the California Department of Public Health, Epidemiology and Prevention for Injury Control (EPIC) Branch.
